Assistant Manager

Program Overview

The duties of assistant managers involve multiple individuals executing daily administrative tasks for an organization. In government, educational and other large institutions utilize a secretariat department. Duties include handling human resources and personnel issues, implementation, media/ public relations, and trend tracking.  Depending on the organization, the secretariat handles company finances, responsible for office design and management of the company database.

Objective of the Training

The objectives of the professional Bachelor’s Degree program in Management Assistant are:

  • (1) to perform accurate research and analysis
  • (2) to coordinate arrangements, meetings,s and or conferences as assigned
  • (3) take dictations and write correspondence such as invoices, memos, letters, financial statements, and other documents using word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software
  • (4)  Daily record keeping and filing of documents
  • (5)prepare reports, presentations and correspondence accurately and swiftly
  • (6) create and organize information, and generate  reference tools for easy use
  • (7)answer and screen telephone calls, and respond to email messages and other correspondences
  • (8) operate and maintain office equipment.
  • (9) Manage busy calendars, meetings coordination, and travel arrangements
  • (10) professional greetings and receive guests and clients and determine whether they should be given access to specific individuals.
  • (11) Ensure efficient administrative information and assistants
  • (12) manage and maintain executive schedules
  • (13) process payroll information. That is execute cells or other financial transactions
  • (14) attend meetings to record minutes, compile, transcribe and distribute minutes of meetings
  • (15) perform general office duties such as ordering supplies, maintaining record management, database system performing basic bookkeeping work.
  • (16) Set up and oversee administrative policies and procedures for offices or organizations
  • (17) open, sort, and distribute incoming correspondence and incoming mails.

Expected Skills

  • Ability to follow directions and report feedback to supervisors, clients and co-workers.
  • Organize activities based on defined calendar and deadline.
  • Good people and communication skills
  • Participate in the management of any organization and decision making
  • Plan and monitor the task in the organization
  • Manage periodic project improvement meetings

The Teaching profession (Secondary, General, and technical/Professional Schools), Accounting and bookkeeping, calendar management, records management, arranging travel plans, typing, event planning, preparing reports, processing expense reports, taking meetings minutes, consultancy, all state ministries as well as public enterprises, research organizations, administrative staff of universities, self-employment, private ownership of business enterprise, non-governmental organization, multinational companies.

ADMISSION

Admission to the Professional Degree Programme in Assistant Manager is open to holders of the HND/HPD, BTS, DSEP, and other certificates related to the discipline.

DURATION

The duration of the degree program is one year (two semesters) in YIBS including an internship.  

GRADUATION REQUIREMENT

For a student to qualify for graduation, a minimum of 60 credits must be earned.

FURTHER STUDIES

Upon graduation with the Bachelor’s certificate in Assistant Manager, the students could choose to pursue further studies by:

  • Spend one more year to earn in degree in any related management fields
  • Enroll in any International Professional Certification program, such as ABE –UK, PMP –the USA, etc. Further details (Link to ABE)
