Accountancy

Our professional bachelor’s degree in accountancy is designed to provide you with a firm foundation in accounting and solid preparation for professional practice. In addition to technical accounting/business knowledge, the program focuses on leadership skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, and interpersonal and communication skills. Professionalism, ethics, and information technology are integrated throughout the curriculum. Moreover, the program is recognized by professional international accounting bodies, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), International Institute of Internal Auditors –  USA (IIA), and Institute of Certified Accountants Cameroon (ONECA), just to name a few.

The main objective of the bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance is to provide quality theoretical and practical knowledge to students in this field. The specific objective of this program centers on the provision of a solid background in the domain of Banking and Finance.

Upon completion of this degree course, the student can aspire to job opportunities in:

• Auditors and Controllers

• Management accountants
• Commercial Banks and micro-financial institutions
• Other financial institutions such as telecommunication companies, insurance companies, hospitals, consulting firms, non-governmental organizations, construction companies, seaports, airports, etc.
• Financial and treasury departments of industrial and commercial enterprises likewise governmental institutions

ADMISSION

Admission to the Professional Degree Programme in Accounting is open to holders of the HND/HPD, BTS, and DSEP in Accounting, Finance, and other certificates related to the discipline.

DURATION

The duration of the degree program is one year (two semesters) in YIBS including an internship.  

GRADUATION REQUIREMENT

For a student to qualify for graduation, a minimum of 60 credits must be earned.

FURTHER STUDIES

Upon graduation with the Bachelor’s certificate in accounting, the students could choose to pursue further studies by:

• Spend one more year to earn in degree in any related business and finance fields
• Enroll in any International Professional Certification program, such as ABE –UK, PMP –the USA, etc. Further details (Link to ABE)  

Job Opportunities

 A holder of a Professional Bsc. in Accountancy will be able to work as: Teacher, Accountant, Accounting Clerk, Auditor, and Controller.
