Program Overview

Accounting is a broad and highly juicy field spanning from cost accounting, management accounting, financial accounting, audit and taxation. This field is in constant demand for accountants who are capable of keeping proper records of incomes and expenses, assets and liabilities. Companies need dynamic, competent and innovative professionals to give them financial and non-financial information to make informed decisions.

Students who graduate with a major in accounting may find jobs in many, if not all areas of business.

YIBS believes in laying a solid foundation for students to have the necessary accounting competences to function in any organization. At the end of the training, students will be awarded HND in Accountancy specialty to permit them efficiently and effectively treat financial information for sound decision-making and growth of their organizations.

Objective of the Training

This specialty program is to provide students with the requisite knowledge in preparing and reporting financial and non-financial information to stakeholders to make informed business decisions.

Duration of Program

This HND training is for a period of two (2) years. Upon completion the student spends a year to obtain a professional degree.

Target Audiance

  • Advanced Level holders (arts or science)

  • Higher education dropouts

  • 1st Degree holders

  • Grade 1 teachers (CAPIEM or CAPIET holders)

  • DIPES I & II or DIPET I & II holders

  • Bookkeeper

  • Accountant

  • Assistant Accountant

  • Payroll officer

  • Accounting officer

  • Treasurer

  • Management controller etc.

Further Studies

Onpon obtaining the HND certificate in accounting, the students could choose to pursue further studies by:

  •  Spending one more year to earn a degree in Accountancy

  • Enrolling for ACCA, CIA or CISA program

  • Pursuing studies at Oxford Brooks University and obtain a BSc. degree in Accounting.

  • Pursuing studies at University of London for a MSc. in Professional Accountancy after the BSC or ACCA certification.

  • Pursuing studies at Oxford Brooks University and obtain Global MBA after the ACCA certification
