Program Overview

The proliferation and strategic role of banks in the local and global environment are at the centre of economic growth and development. Acquiring the necessary expertise in this specialty exposes students to the huge opportunities in the money and capital markets (commercial banks, micro finance, credit unions, capital market, stock exchange etc.). The very competitive industry is ever expanding, compelling firms to seek competent and innovative professionals that can sustainably drive performance.

YIBS seeks to train individuals with the solid foundation to pursue a rewarding career in the banking and finance sector. At the end of this training, students are awarded HND in Banking and Finance.

Objective of the Training

The objective of this specialty is to train qualified staff well equipped with basic, sectoral and legal skills in banking and finance to reduce the deficit in number and quality of personnel in the financial sector. This training provides enterprises, irrespective of their area of activity, with collaborators who will enable them seize the opportunities offered by the financial system to attain corporate goals.

  • Mange and develop professional customers portfolio
  • Open and manage accounts
  • Market and distribute products where payments are made through accounts

Duration of Program

This HND training is for a period of two (2) years. Upon completion, the student, spends a year to obtain a professional degree.

Target Audiance

  • Advanced Level holders (arts or science)

  • Higher education dropouts

  • 1st Degree holders

  • Grade 1 teachers (CAPIEM or CAPIET holders)

  • DIPES I & II or DIPET I & II holders

Upon graduation, students would have the relevant competences to work with:

  • Credit establishments

  • Insurance companies

  • Commercial banks

  • Micro finance institutions

  • Stock exchange

  • Central bank

  • Ministry in charge of finance and the economy

Further Studies

Upon obtaining the HND certificate in Banking and finance, the students could choose to pursue further studies by:

  • Spending one more year to earn a degree in Banking and Finance

  • Enrolling for ACCA, CIA or CISA program
